About Us

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Centre County (HFHGCC) is one of 1,000 independent affiliates of Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI). Since launching in the greater Centre County region 40 years ago, HFHGCC has built, renovated, or repaired nearly 80 homes in partnership with qualified homeowners.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Centre County is a nonprofit, nondenominational housing organization. Habitat welcomes all people -- regardless of race, religion, ethnicity or any other difference -- to build simple, decent, affordable houses with those who lack adequate shelter. We construct quality houses that are sold to homebuyers through no-profit, no-interest loans. Homebuyers complete 350 sweat-equity hours and other requirements, pay for their homes and all upkeep, and maintain current payments on their properties.

HFHGCC is able to make housing affordable to income-qualified families because:
•Individuals, corporations, faith-based organizations and others provide vital financial support.
•Countless of generous volunteers support the organization in many ways -- from special events to the build sites.
•Houses are sold through a no-profit, no-interest mortgage.

What is the Restore?

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a nonprofit home improvement store and donation center that sells new and gently used furniture, appliances, home accessories, building materials, and more at a fraction of the retail price. Operated by Habitat for Humanity of Greater Centre County, the ReStore provides a way for community members to donate items they no longer need, keeping usable goods out of landfills.

The proceeds from ReStore sales support Habitat for Humanity's mission to build and renovate affordable homes for families in need. This helps fund local Habitat projects, contributing to the organization's efforts to create stable, safe, and affordable housing. Additionally, the ReStore offers a resource for people looking for low-cost home improvement materials, making home repairs and renovations more accessible.
