Advanced Manufacturing Pre-Apprenticeship
Manufacturing is a dynamic and highly technical field that provides many career opportunities in a variety of industry sectors, such as automotive, aeronautics, food production, electronic devices, and chemical and pharmaceutical products. Manufacturing technicians today are responsible for programming, monitoring, and repairing high-tech machines in order to keep tight production schedules and reduce waste and costs for the company.
The Penn College Advanced Manufacturing Pre-apprenticeship (AMP) Program will increase awareness about manufacturing and prepare students with the foundational knowledge and skills to pursue further training and employment in manufacturing–related career pathways.
In addition to learning technical concepts, pre-apprentices will participate in hands-on lab sessions to build skills essential to working in the manufacturing environment. Successful apprentices may earn the Manufacturing Technician – level 1 (MT1) certification from the Manufacturing Skills Institute.
Pre-apprenticeship is a training and education program that may be a stepping stone to pursue multiple post-high school pathways including employment, further training through industry apprenticeship and even college.
Students should discuss participating in this program with their high school careers counselor.
